Professor Babatope Kolade Oyewole
Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies
Professor Babatope Kolade Oyewole was born on 8th November, 1967 in Iroko-Ekiti, Ijero Local Government Area, Ekiti State. He attended St. Paul’s Primary School, Iroko Ekiti where he had his Primary Six Leaving Certificate in 1979, Secondary Technical School, Ijero-Ekiti, 1979 to 1984 and Ekamarun Comprehensive High School, Ayegunle-Ekiti, 1984 to 1985.
He gained admission to College of Education, Ikere Ekiti in 1985 where he studied Fine Arts (Double Major) and graduated in 1988 with Distinction. He attended University of Benin, Benin City, 1989 to 1992 where he obtained B.Ed (Fine Arts) with Second Class Honours (Upper Division). He also attended University of Ado-Ekiti (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti), 1995 to 1998 where he obtained M.Ed (Educational Management) in November, 2000. He went further to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko in 2001 where he obtained his Ph.D (Educational Management) in January, 2008 and happened to be the first Ph.D holder produced by the Department of Educational Management in the University.
As a student, he received different academic awards in College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti and University of Benin, Benin City. These include:
- Best student in Education in Part II during 1986/1987 session
- Best student in the School of Education during 1987/1988 session
- Best student in the School of Applied Arts and Sciences during 1987/1988 session
- Overall best graduating student in College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti during 1987/1988 session
- Best student in the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations, University of Benin, Benin City, 1990/1991 session
He started his career as Graduate Assistant in Fine and Applied Arts Department, College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti on 1st December, 1994 where he rose to the position of Senior Lecturer on 1st October, 2007. He was the Head of Department, Fine and Applied Arts in the College between 1st August, 2006 and 31st July, 2008.
He joined the services of erstwhile The University of Education, Ikere Ekiti (TUNEDIK) as Lecturer 1 on 1st September, 2008 where he served as the Acting Head, Department of Educational Management, September 2008 to December, 2011; Acting Dean, Faculty of Education, May 2011 to December, 2011 and member of the Governing Council of (TUNEDIK) December 2008 to May 2011 before the University was seamlessly merged with other existing Universities in Ekiti State to become Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. In the University, he served in various Committees such as:
- Member, Ekiti State University Strategic Plan Implementation Committee, February 2015 to December, 2015
- Member, Ekiti State University Examination Monitoring Committee, January 2015 to March 2016
- Secretary, Faculty of Education Postgraduate Committee, December 2013 to July 2015
- Acting Head of Department, Educational Management, 1st August 2015 to 31st July 2017
- Member, Faculty of Education Research Committee, August 2016 to 31st July 2020
- Faculty of Education Representative on the Board of Faculty of Management Science, 2016 to 2018
- Deputy Director, EKSU Sandwich Programme, 1st August 2018 to 31st 2023
- Senate Representative on the Governing Board of EKSU Entrepreneurship Centre, 7th January 2021 to 31st July, 2023
- Deputy Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, EKSU, 1st August 2023 to 31st July, 2025

Prof. B. K. Oyewole has attended and actively participated in many national and international conferences some of which include:

He is a member of some professional bodies such as Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning (NAEAP), Higher Education Research and Policy Network (HERPNET); Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE); International Research and Development Institute, and Certified Teacher, Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
He has over sixty-five (65) research articles published in reputable national and international journals. He is happily married with children.
Our Programmes
The College offers a range of postgraduate programmes aimed at catering for diverse interests and career goals. These are Postgraduate Diploma; Masters (Executive and Academic); M.Phil/Ph.D; and Ph.D. Although not all Departments offer Postgraduate Diploma, Postgraduate Programmes are available in all Faculties as well as the Institute of Education, Directorate of Continuing Education Programmes (DCEP); Directorate of Part-time Programmes (DPTP) and the College of Medicine. To guarantee some flexibility in the programmes and to allow students to balance their academic pursuits with other responsibilities, our courses are delivered, both through the Full-Time and Part-Time modes.
