Professor I.G. Adanlawo
Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies.
Prof. Adanlawo, Isaac Gbadura was born on 14th July, 1964 at Ise-Ekiti, Ekiti State. He had his primary and secondary education in his home town of Ise-Ekiti between 1971-1976 and 1976 – 1981 respectively.
He attended and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry in 1990 at the Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (OSUA) now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti (EKSU).He had his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1995and Ph.D in Plant Biochemistry and Toxicology from the University of Ilorin in 2004.
Prof. Adanlawo joined the services of the University as Graduate Assistant in 1993 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Plant Biochemistry and Toxicology in 2010.
He is a member of Nigeria Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and also a member of Society for Medical Plants and Economic Development.
He is a Professor of repute with several academic research papers to his credit in both International and local journals. He is a winner of many Awards/Prizes. He has held several positions of authority and leadership within and outside the University. He has equally served as External Assessor and External Examiner for Postgraduate and Undergraduate programmes to many Universities in Nigeria.
Professor Adanlawo was a member of Universities Governing Council between 2009 and 2018 and has been a permanent member of the Senate of Ekiti State University since September, 2010. He is currently the Ag. Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti.
Objective and Mission Statement
The main objective of Postgraduate Studies in the University is to further the development of the spirit of enquiry through training in research in an atmosphere of intellectual independence and individual creativity. In pursuance of this objective, the Postgraduate College fosters through instructions, a deeper understanding of elementary concepts and an increasing ability to apply functional ideas to new problem.
The College is administered through the Board, the Offices of the Provost, the Deputy Provost and the Deputy Registrar/Secretary respectively. The Board remains the highest academic organ and policy formulating body of the College and recommends to Senate as appropriate on all matters of coordination and approval of Postgraduate Studies and Doctoral Programmes in the University.
Functions of the Board
The Board is the principal policy-making organ of the College.
The Board meets once in a month; i.e second Thursday of the month and it is responsible for the consideration and approval of every recommendation from its two statutory Committees. The Board thereafter make appropriate recommendations to Senate of the University for approval. The Provost is the Chairman of the Board while the Deputy Registrar/Secretary to the College is the Secretary to the Board.
Statutory Committees in the College
i. The Academic and Research Committee (ARC)
The Committee handles every matters relating to academic and research. The Committee meets statutorily on every first Thursday of the month but could reschedule in case there is urgency. Recommendations from the Committee are brought to the Board for approval. These include, Registration of Thesis titles, Examiner’s Reports and Examination results among other functions.
ii. The Admissions and Scholarship Committee (ASC)
The Committee handles matters relating to Admission and Scholarship. The Committee meets only when there are issues for discussion. The recommendations of the Committee are usually brought to the Board for consideration and approval before implementation.
