Professor Celinah Folakemi Ogundana

Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies

Professor Celinah Folakemi Ogundana attended Ondo State University (Now EKSU), 1983 to 1987, where she had a B.Sc Degree in Sociology.  She attended and obtained an M.Sc degree in Demography and Social Statistics at the Obafemi Awolowo Universty, Ile- Ife.  She holds a Ph.D in Sociology (with specialisation in Population Studies) of the University of Ado-Ekiti (Now EKSU). She joined the service of Ondo State University (now Ekiti State University) as an Assistant Lecturer in 1995 and rose through the ranks to become a professor of Sociology, specializing in Population Studies, in 2012.

Her research interest and publications over the years have been in the field of Population Health, and Gender Studies. She teaches undergraduate and post graduate courses; supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students; and has many journal articles published in related subdivisions of sociology.   

Professor Ogundana is a member of many professional associations inclusive of Nigeria Anthropological and Sociological Practitioners’ Association; International Sociological Association; British Sociological Association; Union for African Population Studies; Society for African AIDS, among others.

She had served in many leadership positions in the University.  These include:

  1. Exam Coordinator – Sociology Department,   2000 – 2002;
  2. Sub- Dean, Faculty of the Social Sciences, UNAD, 2002 to 2004;
  3. Adviser – Nigerian Association of Sociology Students Association,  UNAD Chapter. 2000 – 2006;
  4. Level Coordinator and Adviser – 2002/2003 Class,    2002 to January, 2008;         
  5. Acting Head of Department,  August 1, 2006 to July 31, 2008;
  6. Senate Representative – Academic Board,  Directorate of Part-Time  Programme,  2007 -2009;
  7. Vice Chancellor’s Representative – Students’ Disciplinary Committee, 2008 – 2010;
  8. Member – Investigation Committee on Examination Malpractice, Directorate of Part-Time Programme,  2008;
  9. Chairman – Faculty of the Social Sciences Welfare Committee, 2009 to 2014;
  10. Representative – Congregation to Senate, 2010 -2012;
  11. Representive – Congregation to University Ceremonies Committee, 2011 – 2013;
  12. Director, Centre for Gender and Development Studies, EKSU, 2017 – 2020;
  13. Chairperson, Academic and Research Committee, School of Postgraduate Studies, EKSU, 2021-2023. 

Professor Ogundana became the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, on August 1, 2023.

Our Programmes

The College offers a range of postgraduate programmes aimed at catering for diverse interests and career goals. These are Postgraduate Diploma; Masters (Executive and Academic); M.Phil/Ph.D; and Ph.D. Although not all Departments offer Postgraduate Diploma, Postgraduate Programmes are available in all Faculties as well as the Institute of Education, Directorate of Continuing Education Programmes (DCEP); Directorate of Part-time Programmes (DPTP) and the College of Medicine. To guarantee some flexibility in the programmes and to allow students to balance their academic pursuits with other responsibilities, our courses are delivered, both through the Full-Time and Part-Time modes.
